| Hunters Retreat Our Retreat has combined a package with the historic Elkhorn Lodge. This is a small 70 acre heavily traveled migratory property which borders Rocky Mountain National Park. (Absolutely no hunting in the park) Our no kill no pay policy separates us from other private land hunting. Hunters at the River Retreat enjoy exclusive hunting rights on this unique property during their stay. Experienced guides put forth their best effort to make your hunt successful. Hunters meet at the Historic Elk Horn Lodge for orientation breakfast the day before the hunt. A glassing tour of the property,usually on horseback,(optional) follows and a "Sight In" at the range finishes of the day. Our Trophy Bulls are among the finest in the country. Cow hunts are equally challenging if not more with many eyes and ears upon you. The Mule deer Elk combo is recommended as you are certain to encounter one or the other,if not both during your stay.. In the event there is little activity on the property we are fortunate to be associated with other private lands and Hunters are always permitted to freely explore the many surrounding acres of National Forrest. The River Retreat is an ideal destination for the "Time Sensitive" professional, guys getaway hunt. Come with the guys or bring the wives.
